Когда-то, в минуты тягостных раздумий для облегчения духа я сочинил несколько страниц, иллюстрирующих древний ритуал выполнения арифметических операций столбиком. Разумеется, я никак не рекламировал эти страницы, но поисковые машины не дремлют и народная тропа ведущая к храму этого сакрального знания не зарастает.
Я, наконец, решил полюбопытствовать, что ищет народ в стране далёкой. И, разумеется, спешу поделиться своими находками.
Knowledge is power
A while ago for the purpose of pure enjoyment I've put up the site that illustrates the ancient rituals of paper and pen arithmetics. Of course, I didn't advertise it, promote, market and stuff. Nonetheless, search engines are inexhaustible sources of visitors craving for the sacred knowledge.
So I decided to take a closer look at what people are looking for. And this information once acquired has to be shared.

After a cardful-of-pictures-long trip I thought it's a nice idea to do something about geotagging before I enable Eye-Fi upload. Unsurprisingly, the liberty taken lead me to the iii 0.2 release, which introduces
- storing of the data about APs nearby uploaded along with the picture;
- sample scripts for post-upload processing of the pictures, including basic geotagging script (done in bash);
- etc.
Wish I had time to try to figure out how to properly geotag pictures using the service provided by Eye-Fi. Maybe next time.
Meanwhile, feel free to go grab it and contribute fixes and improvements :)

Невзирая на инсинуации некоторых почти незримо присутствующих здесь лиц, что искусство, мол, — это всего лишь «с живой картины список бледный», мы с Ариной Родионовной (на фото) живо заинтересовались вопросами искусства в коте и кота в искусстве. Первый пункт мы постараемся утрясти между собой, а вот что касается второго, то тут Арина Родионовна проявила желание обратить свои взоры к общественному мнению (под обществом мы, конечно, подразумеваем, обоих читателей этих строк).
Иными словами (не надеясь на те, полезно бывает прибегнуть к помощи иных слов), пожалуйста, притащите нам сюда что-нибудь интересное. А интересует нас всё, стоящее того, чтобы нас интересовать.

Despite some barely seen around here individuals insinuating about the art being a poor imitation of so called life, we — me and Arina (see photo) — grew intensely fascinated with the subject of artful cats and catful arts. While we are determined to pursue the former in private, the latter drove Arina to the point of expressing catlike curiosity in public opinion of the matter (by public we refer, of course, to both readers of the present writing).
In other words (and since the initial attempt invariably fails it is often advised to resort to the other words), please, bring us something of interest. And, to be more specific — we're extremely interested in everything that is worth being interested in.
На этой жизнеутверждающей ноте я позволю себе отправиться в вояж, а заранее благодарная Арина Родионовна останется в нетерпении, приподнятом настроении духа и ожидании ваших даров и приношений.

digressions from meandering
As I have previously announced elsewhere, by popular demand I start these here notes, so that I can (can I?) write stuff in the years to come (if any). I am notorious for my reluctance and inability to stick to any topic and besides have no idea what topic to even to try to stick to. No better is my idea of the audience (if any) and as a consequence of the language (if any) I should address the said audience in. So it's about time to finally declare the beginning of digressing from my meandering…
And, by the way, while I'm at it, let me digress a bit and admit that not only this day is famous for the magniloquent beginning of my loquacious digressions from illustrious meandering here, but the day is also known as a beginning of my meandering at the lager scale. Which means I will readily and gratefully accept your birthday greetings in inordinate amounts.

Под натиском общественности я, как и обещал, открываю собранье пёстрых глав с тем, чтобы, глядишь, что-нибудь в дальнейшем написать (не обещаю). Я, разумеется, не могу, не хочу, наконец, не желаю придерживаться темы, а, если бы и, то не знал бы какой. По той же причине понятия не имею кому случится это читать (ежели случится) и, соответственно, на каком наречии. Ну, эпическая муза, вручай уже верный посох и позволь поблуждать всласть, вкось и вкривь…
Позвольте, кстати, отклониться от темы отступлений и признаться, что, как известно, день этот знаменателен не только великим почином меандрических дигрессий, но и рождением виновника этого сомнительного торжества разума над разумом. The usual story: I bought a piece of new hardware lacking linux support and quickly hacked together a small daemon to make it work the way I want.
Now if you have your pet linux server at home and want it to accept photographs from the Eye-Fi card, you can try iii.

I haven't had a watch that I could connect to a computer for quite a while. Now I decided to treat myself and got a Sleeptracker® PRO watch. Having a linux software felt kind of natural to me, so I quickly hacked one together. You can track your sleep too, if you want to. Welcome napkin!

I wanted flickr to be convenient. I searched and I came to conclusion that I am in need of new flickr firefox extension, so I wrote one. Well, it isn't even half finished, but since it seems to already do more than similar products, I think it maybe time to release it.
